Prof. Erwin Neher was the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 1991. As a renowned biophysicist, and a pioneer in the fields of ion channel research and synaptic transmission has been devoting his career to biophysical research for over 50 years. He has served as a research director in several higher education institutions and laboratories.  

In 2016, Prof. Neher was invited by the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) to establish the “Dr. Neher’s Biophysics Laboratory for Innovative Drug Discovery (the Laboratory)”. The mission of the establishment of the Laboratory is to create a world-class innovative drug R&D institute with the focus on developing cures for complex diseases, and the development of scientific research and higher education in Macau.

eefit’s patented microphysical technology works to energize diverse material molecules to produce high-quality health products. This technology not only serves to improve the public’s sub-optimal health, but it has also been used to support the research and development in medical innovation. 

In October 2017, the Laboratory and eefit jointly launched the “Biomedical Research & Development of EEFIT Project, MUST”. The research results of the project have been fruitful.

In early April 2023, Prof. Neher was invited to visit Macau to attend the “2nd Frontiers in Medicine Summit: Advances in Translational Medicine & Drug Development”. 

During his brief stay in Macau, a meeting was kindly arranged by Prof. Vincent Wong of the Laboratory for Prof. Nick Wang, founder of eefit and project partner of the Laboratory, to meet with Prof. Neher in person to discuss about the latest results of the eefit related research projects. This academic discussion on the cross-fields of physiology and physics was full of wisdom and inspiration. Prof. Neher was very interested in the results of the projects, and he extended his best wishes to eefit for scaling new heights.
